What types of mussels are there?
For mussel lovers, we offer a wide selection, from Zeeland bottom- or hanging-culture mussels to Moules de Bouchots. These hanging-culture mussels, originating from the Bay of Mont St. Michel, are of high quality. Because the mussels hang freely, no sand from the bottom gets into them. At Adri & Zoon you can buy mussels in various sizes, from Extra to Gold Label and everything in between.
When the R is in the month
It's often said that in the Netherlands we eat mussels when there's an R in the month. The bottom mussel season at Adri & Zoon begins in July and doesn't end until March at the earliest.
