Adri & Zoon
Adri & Zoon was founded back in 1983 by Adri Bruijnooge Senior. Humility and passion were key factors on the road to today's success. With a Volkswagen Golf as his logistics department, and a kitchen converted into an office, it quickly became clear that Adri Senior could become the seafood specialist of the Netherlands. Even Europe! Adri Senior quit his job and embarked on a mission that is still in full swing more than 40 years later. Our mission? To bring high-quality fish, shellfish, and crustaceans to the plates of seafood lovers worldwide.
Starting out as a local mussel supplier, the personal service and customer focus of Adri Sr. and his wife were greatly appreciated by the Dutch fishmongers. Very quickly, Adri Sr. supplied the best mussels to professional fishmongers throughout the Netherlands. Customers were called daily to receive and to process orders. So from the kitchen serving as an office, they immediately started to unburden and to think constructively with their customers. This is exactly what we at Adri & Zoon are well-known for to this day.
The Volkswagen Golf soon turned out to be too small to meet the huge demand. Even the larger car that Adri Sr. purchased was not large and fast enough to keep up with the rapidly growing organization. To keep up with the 24-hour delivery promise, Adri Jr. decided to support and strengthen his father in the business. As a joint-proprietor, the 19-year-old Adri Jr. rapidly became an important link in our success story. With a shared passion and dedication, both father and son not only guaranteed service, quality and an excellent price, but also worked on stable growth of the business.
By traveling to countries such as Norway and Canada, we were able to expand the range of our products to include the best Scandinavian salmon and North American hanging culture mussels. Our fleet was expanded with refrigerated vehicles from Mercedes. A Scania truck was brought into service to serve the fishing enthusiast even better. And it goes without saying that Adri & Zoon's kitchen office became too small, so it was decided to build a new office, right next to Adri Jr's home.
After 10 years of hard work and of building up relationships, collaborations and experience, Adri Jr. took over the business from his father. Over a period of 10 years, Adri & Zoon had developed into one of the leading all-round wholesalers of sea vegetables, fish, shellfish and crustaceans in the Netherlands. The excellent reputation of Adri & Zoon and the passion with which Adri Jr. continued his father's work after his well-deserved retirement made room for even more growth and development. Together with his wife Inge Bruijnooge, Adri Jr. took over all the operations.
As our organization continued to grow, more enthusiastic staff were recruited. The first business premises on the Krab became a reality and Adri & Zoon grew into a trendsetting player in the market. The new building consisted of a larger office space, two large cold stores and a freezer. However, this beautiful building also became too small in 2008. Our 20 employees by this time needed a new location, with space for logistics, refrigeration, offices and storage. In 2019, the choice was made for the future with a sustainable, energy-efficient and above all spatial new building. In this superb new building there is sufficient space for the now more than 150 employees that Adri & Zoon has in service in 2022. There is even room for more growth and development!
Adri & Zoon buys fish, shellfish and crustaceans of the highest quality from all over the world, at no fewer than 25 different fish auctions in the Netherlands and overseas. Every day, all our employees work passionately to deliver the most beautiful products from the sea to our customers!
